Every Natural stone – Marble, Granite, Slate, Terracotta, Sandstones etc. are porus and these pores density varies from stone to stone. The pores and capillaries of stone affect the amount of water that can evaporate through stone- known as moisture vapor. Moisture vapor is carried from substrate through the stone to keep substrate – Dry. The process is called Moisture Vapor Transmission. ( MVT ). MVT allows the stone to ‘Breathe’ naturally, reducing the possibility of mold growth, damage to substrate, or stone discoloration.
